Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, former chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. Burrell is host of the Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and also serves as the host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and bubbly presence, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides concise easy-to-master techniques for home cooks on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in top New York restaurants and studied Italian cuisine and surroundings. She also competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell was able to discover a love of food and cooking at a young age. After obtaining an English and Communications degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she decided to follow her dream of the industry of restaurants by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America has been a fantastic adventure for me. It was difficult to master enough and I could not do enough couldn't work hard enough. Chef Burrell following her graduation from The Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy was employed for a year in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, the Michelin-starred restaurant. In her time in Italy she came to appreciate and understand the concept behind Italian food and culture that created a lasting impact on her culinary point of view. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef for the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which aids children who are struggling. Her travels are frequent across the country as both a mentor and the guest speaker who discusses her career and love of cooking. Anne says throughout her culinary career that she feels so fortunate to be able be able to share what's really important for her.
