Thora Birch
Thora Birch, born March 11 1982 was an American actress. She made her film debut in Purple People Eater (1988) which earned her the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress Under Nine Years Old". Birch became a household name as when she was a child actor with films like All I Want for Christmas (1991), Patriot Games (92), Hocus Pocus (93), Monkey Trouble (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Alaska (1996). In 1999 she was nominated for a BAFTA nomination. In 2001, she received a nomination as Best Actress for Ghost World. Birch was also nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story in 2003. Birch also starred on Dungeons & Dragons (2000) (2001), The Hole (2004), Silver City (2004), Dark Corners (2006) and Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009). Birch was also the Whisperer Mary/Gamma during season 10 of The Walking Dead (2019-202). Birch was the oldest of the children born to Jack Birch (and Carol Connors) in Los Angeles. Birch her family, which originally was named Biersch is German-Jewish, and Scandinavian. She also has French-Canadian, French, and Italian heritage. [6] Thora is her birth name. It is derived from the Norse god Thor which means thunder and lightning. If it were a boy, this would have been her full name. Kian Bolt Birch is her younger brother. Both parents were former actors in adult-oriented films and starred in Deep Throat. Based on their experience working in the entertainment industry the parents were reluctant initially to support Thora. But, her photo was seen by agents after a babysitter saw her imitation commercials. Birch received her first major break at the age of four when her babysitter accompanied her to an audition for an Quaker Oats commercial.
